Windham Cheeleaders Show Poor School Spirit

I was very appalled by the behavior of the Windham cheerleaders at last night's game. They showed little school spirit and were more concerned with a cockroach on the track than being a good representation of the Windham community.Rather than perform cheers, they either stood around socializing amongst themselves or joked around with other high school students in the stands. Where was the advisor while this behavior was going on? I'm sure they are all very nice girls, but they have no discipline and it showed last night. Rest assured I am not the only fan of this opinion as several other fans sitting around me commented negatively on their behavior.

Ohio cockroaches are small and cute compared to the flying aerial assault vehicle-sized ones we have in Guam.

First of all, I dont know why they were upset about a cockroach!! Who from Windham has never seen a cockroach before?? Ist the Windham mascot a cockroach?

Secondly, dont they need those cheerleaders to play football this year?? I know the guys aren't doing that well.

I find it very sad that a member of another community would be more supportive of our kids than one of our own residents. The person who posted this obviously had nothing better to do with their time than bash the cheerleading squad. My son plays on the football team and was upset by this because he said it makes the school look bad.

To be clear,I am not from Windham but this has got to be one of the most ridiculous blogs we have ever seen. My wife and daughters have been involved with cheering for many years and have attended more games than we care to admit. We have played Windham many many times. Being a cheerleader Dad in a family of women I have heard many times about the Windham cheerleaders. Today after reading this, my girls talked about how the Windham girls come over after game, whether they win or lose, and congratulate them. My wife has pointed out to me in the stands how well prepared they are and what a good job they do. My girls even said they wish they had the Windham advisor for their squad. They always look forward to the cheer event every year at Windham. For someone to disparage these girls because they acted like young girls at the sight of a bug is appalling to us. It is appalling you did not talk to the advisor at the game. It is appalling you choose this forum. Windham cheerleaders, your fans may not appreciate you but you do have the respect from our school and we are sure others schools as well.

Please, it is not only Windham cheerleaders. Look around. Every cheerleader from every school is usually talking, or laughing when they aren't cheering. I have been to a few games around portage county and haven't been impressed by cheerleaders conduct. Should I be? And lets not forget, they are kids.

Just because you disagree with disappointed fan's opinion or method of expressing it on a public web site does not mean he is selfish or not a true supporter of school sports. User has a "valid point" speak up anywhere & everywhere you choose. To those who think this post is "embarrassing", worse things have been said about Windham. If you don't like what people have to say don't read it.

Disappointed Fan

Speak up anywhere and everywhere you choose. You owe no one an apology.

Apparently by exercising my right to freedom of speech I have offended some people. My apologies.

Windhamfan has a very valid point. This "Disappointed Fan" is not a true supporter of school sports. There are better means to resolving your personal opinions about a school sponsored group. Posting on a public website is a selfish attack on a group of young teenage girls.
Had this been reported to the school on other occasions and still nothing was done, then this publication would be justified. Maybe they should have said something that night to make the girls realize they were over-reacting to a bug.
I can guarantee that they will probably get talked to about this. Being a typical teen probably means that they will not be that enthusiastic at the next game (hearing that the minimal crowd they have to cheer to doesn't appreciate them).
