There is nothing more important in our County as the Portage County Health Department.

This is a crucial operation that we truly need and it amazes me we won't approve a levy for them.

Their services to our community are required. They help in the are of immunizations, the inspect restaurants and eateries to insure we are being served by clean environments, they do inspections to make sure we are safe.

I hope everyone will help promote this section of the County Government and pass their levy. It shouldn't be an invisible levy.

Even though the Health Department is invisible in their services to our county, they are one of the most important because it concerns the health of all of us.

Please help pass this levy and vote for it's approval. The amount is smaller than it should be and this is one that we should not feel in our support.

	If this is so important, why isn't this being funded out of county funds by the Commissioners? The commissioners seem to have money to support 25+ other boards, committees, commissions, etc. We need to let the Commissioners know this is a priority over some of the "other" pet projects they sponsor or co-fund. And it is worth a "TEA Party" as any increase in taxes is too much when significant tax dollars are being wasted on other efforts. BTW, the most important function in Portage County is the Sheriff's Department. Without them, life would be much different. Think of the "wild west"!!

	Yes, this is an important levy as I too live in Portage cty. Interesting that this on has only drawn 4 comments? Mention the word 'schools' and it gets a lot more attention! To those who did take the time to read this, PLEASE VOTE TO SUPPORT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT!

	I support health issues (and our PC Health Department, wonderful bunch of people there when you really know what it is they do for our county), I support the PCBMRDD (although I think they have changed their name), anything that TRULY helps children, I support anything that helps mothers and their children, I support actually teaching and educating our children, not necessarily the levies anymore but the things that really go to the kids, I support the humane treatment of animals, all kinds, and I support many other charities. Just to name a few. Don't want to go into that again. Martin Fleming

	Way to go Martin, I knew you had a second issue in you! I agree, we need a viable Health Dept. in Portage Co. The tax is pretty minimal, not even worthy of a TEA Party.... When swine flu is raging out of control in 2010 everyone will be wishing we had a reasonably funded Health Dept. to coordinate the response.
