Dr. Athena Salaba, of Stow, assistant professor in Kent State University's School of Library and Information Science, and Ravenna author David Busch will be among 10 local photographers attempting to qualify for a Guinness World Record from noon to 1:30 p.m. on December 5 at Barnes & Noble in Montrose.

They will join other members of the Cleveland Photographic Society to establish a Guinness World Record for "Most Contributors to a Single Book, Signing That Book in One Location" at the store, located at 4015 Medina Road in Akron.

The photographers earlier this year combined to assemble a lifetime's worth of memorable images for "David Busch's Digital Photography Bucket List: 100 Great Digital Photographs You Must Take Before You Die."

Other local photographers expected to participate include Tony Berling, Tallmadge; Todd Liebenauer, Peninsula; Barbara Pennington, Boston Heights; Vincent Vartorella, Stow; Varina Patel, Twinsburg; Cheryl Donovan and Michelle Leigh Smith, of Hinckley.

Busch, an internationally-known photographer and author of more than 120 best-selling photography and technology books, will take part in the December 5 signings during the Guinness record attempt and at three other sessions at Cleveland-area bookstores. Busch and his co-authors will also appear at Borders in Strongsville (10-11:30 a.m.), Barnes & Noble " Eton Collection, Woodmere Village (3-4:30 p.m.), and Mac's Backs, Coventry Road, Cleveland Heights (5-6 p.m.)

"David Busch's Digital Photography Bucket List" was designed as a rousing collection of 100 images, each representing a definitive moment that Busch says, "will inspire photographers of all skill levels to build their own personal "to-do' list of digital images to capture during a lifetime shooting career."
