I feel in the spirit and would like to deliver onto you a poem.

I know this is not my norm but what the hey!

Here goes:

Way up north is where you go
To see my house in white snow
Red and green is what it be
this way you can tell it's me

Chocolate hot, what a smell
Sure creates an awsome spell
A whiff of cookies in the air
Make me hungry as a bear

The factory is where their makin
All the toys that I'll be taken
For the little kids you see
Underneath the Christmas tree

The kids should all be in their beds
Mom and Dad and Uncle Fred
I wait until the dark of night
And then I take my merry flight

Santa Claus is who I am
They say that I'm a cherry man
Up to the roof top in the snow
and down the chimney flue I go

I plunge my hand into my bag,
and read the name that's on the tag
I place the gift so gingerly
While I'm down, on my knees

Now the stockings I will fill
all the way to their bill
With little treats of every kind
I think they will do just fine

Now I know that I'm done
The time has come for me to run
Up to the roof top to my sleigh
I'll be back another day

Ho,Ho, HO and a flick of my thumb
Hope I brought a lot of fun
The presents I brought all this way
Will make a Merry Christmas day

(Please note, Cherry as in red nose!)

May all have a happy holiday season!

Martin Fleming

That's true, but if the money isn't there. That is exactly the problem. You look at it from the districts point of view not that of the general public and the government. You think things have to change instantly when a new President steps in place.

There is much to be done and it can't happen over night. New ideas are presented but because you don't understand or have the patience to wait, you feel that failure is imininent. The problems in our economy existed long before our current president took office. Just as the problems we are having in our school district now.

The main difference is Obama has a different direction and ideas compared to his predecessor and they probably are in tune with your ideas. This doesn't make his ideas good or bad, he just has the position and power to enact them. I don't agree with everything he has to say either, and I don't disagree with everything he has to say. One thing I won't do is chastise the man for he is working cleaning up the mess that was already there and maybe creating a new mess for someone else to clean up. Either way, he is making change. Maybe not the change you and I want but again, he has the power.

As for the money not being there, did it ever come to light for you that maybe the money is not in the taxpayers pocket to give?

I might have accepted an emergency levy based on what the funds were going to be used for and if they could elaborate a little better on where exactly the funds were going but the BOE doesn't want to elaborate for most likely one of two reasons. The either don't know where they will exactly spend it, or they don't want us to know exaclty what it will be used for.

Telling me 85% will be used for Salaries and Benefits and when that sum from the levy comes to $3.4 million, it makes me wonder. They needed $900,000 and yet they want and additional $2.5 million over that for Salaries and Benefits. Is that for the future? It is your perseption that I am misinformed in some way. If that is so then the information the district provided me is false information. The spread sheets and communication I have received from them, the State and the County is all in error. I present them for what they are, and those who view them see them for what they see.

So if the money isn't there within the district, what indication can you provide me with that will show that the money is available from the community? Do you know something I don't know? The county is making drastic changes, the city isn't going to experience the funds they expected, many families are either feeling hardships now or will a little later down the road (and that is what the state is indicating or did they misinform me too?).

I agree with satcholip and stryker.

Please give up your long, self serving rants against the school board. I find it very funny that you now believe the former treasurer, but when he was in that position, you were his biggest detractor. Don't you remember?

And I know many people have said that you run for the school board, but that's not a good idea. The city has enough trouble with you as an outspoken, misinformed citizen, let alone if you were in a position of power.

I would compare that to the people who wanted Obama just because they wanted a change. Well, now that we're nearly 11 months in this, how's that change working for you? You see, when you're in the position of power, like President Obama is now, he sees how things really are and all he spoke during his campaign was smack.

Nobody wants to see people lose their jobs, but if money isn't there, and people can't or won't support the levy, there is no other option. It happens in the real world every day.

Stryker and Satcholip,

Just curious, didn't you guys both get your grinch costumes out of storage yet?

I'm sure there are other people out there you want to ruin the holiday season for.
