Santa and Politics Shouldn't Mix

I wanted to say thank you to all who made the arrival of Santa in Kent on Saturday night a huge success. The choir was, as usual, supurb, and the volunteers really went to a lot of effort to ensure that it was a fun event for everyone!

However, as a former military family, we question the sensibility of approving a war protest for the same time and place. The children of servicemembers serving far from home this holiday season should not be confronted with unpleasant statements about the military on a night that should be one of pure joy in an otherwise difficult time.

In the future, perhaps it would be better if Santa and politics didn't mix.

You can have morals without any type of religion in your life.

Why is it that when everyone seems healthy or the nation is doing well- we say less religion?

When Fort Hood was attacked how many people said lets " Pray for those families of lost and hurt loved ones".

I think less faith and morals have us as a nation in the mess we are in. We don't find religion or faith just on Sunday morning.

Churches and those who attend them are the same people who help places like Kent Social Services and Catholic Charities in there time of need.

Let us remember that when we complain that we need less religion...

Santa and politics? How about religion and politics? The last 8 years could have used a little less religion.

There was a war protest at the Santa Fest on Saturday? I hadn't heard. That's just dumb. Leave Santa out of the politics.

Are we sure that City Of Kent gave a permit for a demonstration? It's very possible that it was unauthorized.

as a veteran myself, I totally agree with you. I am on bed rest this week and awaiting on surgery for wednesday and i was unable to attend. I wish I could of been there, it is always a pleasure. Isn't Santa for the kids anyway (except for me I am a big kid at heart)?
