St. Joseph School in Mantua Ohio will be celebrating Catholic Schools week starting January 31 to February 7, 2010. Please come and join us!! See how wonderful sending our children to this school is. St. Joseph School is more than just a school; it's a place that educates about God and good will towards all. You also do not have to be Catholic to have your child go to a Catholic School. Our children are taught about God and pray every day. Even though Catholic Schools are tuition based, there are several payment options available. I understand that in hard economic times it is difficult for families to consider paying for their children's education but with higher educational standards and a 7 point grading system, St. Joe's gives children a better edge on their future.

Nicki,
Thank you for answering my question. It is comforting to know that your niece is being taken care of.
I have always found it ironic that schools like St. Joe's tout themselves to "educate about God and good will towards all" yet they do not accept all. It seems that the strong are welcome, but there is not room for those like your niece. A public supported instituton is there fore her. I like that my tax dollars are there to help educate her. I vote for levys that support the MRDD, Happy Day, etc.
I see the children with special needs (both the lower end and the upper end academically) that are accommodated by the public schools. More so, I always get choked up when I see the kids that need additional physical and other attention being taken care of at our public school and I think how proud I am that my tax dollars are there at work. My next thought is that I am blessed that my children do not require the assistance. I am also very happy that they get to see that all are welcome at their school and that there is a place for them there. They see the real everyday examples of compassion and acceptance of the meek.
God Bless Everyone!

High Holy Grand Poo-Bah,
Hi and Good Evening!!
I have never heard of the school turning anyone away. If I did, that would not be the school for my children.
I think that if the child were a paraplegic the child would probably be better at a school like Happy Day. I have a niece who is medically handicapped that attends Happy Day and I know that I would love her to attend St. Joes but with all of the risks there are for her, she is more in her element at Happy Day! They have more than one trained nurse on site; special equipment designed specifically for children with disabilities and everyone is educated in handling and also educating children that have disabilities.
Also it may not be up to the school or church. The state ultimately makes the decision for children with disabilities.
As I stated in the closing, please feel free to contact the school. I hope this helps. Have a great week. God Bless You!
Nicki

Does this school accept anyone or do they turn away students for various reasons?
For example, do they have the personnel and facilities to accommodate children with special needs?
If a parent were to bring their child to this school and the child was a paraplegic, was not able to take care of themselves or somehow required constant care, would this school be able to accept the child as a student?
Are the meek able to attend?
I ask because I know of schools that accept all without discrimination. Those schools really have my respect.
