The 12th Annual Portage County
Environmental Conservation
Awards Benefit Dinner

February 4, 2010

The 12th Annual Environmental Conservation Awards Dinner will take place April 10. This annual event will feature Guest Speaker Tom Chema, the President of Hiram College, featuring musician Alex Bevan, and includes dinner, appetizers from locally grown products, beer and wine and a silent auction.

The goal for this year is a "Zero Waste" event: utilizing biodegradable glassware, recycling all paper products, and composting food scraps. Left-over food is always donated to a local charity.

The dinner steering committee is seeking nominations for potential awardees to be honored at the dinner. Nominees for this year's awards will be considered based on their efforts in Environmental Education, Green Business, Green Building/ Development, Environmental Activism or Environmental Stewardship.

Nominations should include the nominee's name and contact information, along with a paragraph or two describing his/her/their contribution to environmental conservation in Portage County. Send nominations to: Portage Park District, 128 N. Prospect St., Ravenna, OH 44266, or fax to 330-297-3472. Nominations can also be e-mailed to sblair@portageparkdistrict.org.

The dinner is $30.00. Call the Park District at 330-297-7728 for reservations, silent auction donations or for more information about this popular annual event.
