CLEVELAND — One day after cutting deep into his roster, Browns coach Eric Mangini did some more grooming. The Browns were awarded defensive back Marquis Floyd from Seattle, running back Cedric Peerman from Baltimore, defensive back DeAngelo Smith from Dallas and offensive lineman Phil Trautwein from St. Louis. To make room for the quartet, Mangini waived linebacker Marcus Benard, offensive lineman Corey Hilliard and defensive back Bret Lockett. Also, the Browns reached an injury settlement with offensive lineman Fred Weary, who had been on injured reserve. Floyd spent all of last season on Seattle's practice squad. Peerman was drafted in the sixth round this year by the Ravens. Smith was taken in the fifth round by the Cowboys. Trautwein joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent. Comments
