Staff report

Basketball is a sport built to have fun while also creating a competitive atmosphere.

Although, at times, the sport can be used as a vehicle for something much more important, and on Nov. 20 that is exactly what will happen at Kent Roosevelt High School.

The Rough Riders girls basketball team will host the Mogadore Wildcats in a charity basketball game, with all proceeds of the game going to the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The game will act as a scrimmage, with the junior varsity game scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and the varsity game to follow.

Tickets for the game are $5 and can be purchased from girls basketball players and coaches from both Kent Roosevelt and Mogadore. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event.

The charity game is just one of many similar events Kent Roosevelt girls basketball head coach Craig Foreman and his staff have introduced for their players.

Foreman began a community-service effort with his players and staff at the beginning of the 2008-09 season and will continue their campaign throughout this year.

On Nov. 21, the Rough Riders will offer their services to help Habitat for Humanity paint and fix up a series of houses in the area.
