Last updated at 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27 News and notes from around MLB heading into Saturday’s trade deadline: • Arizona Diamondbacks: Expect the Diamondbacks to keep selling. After already moving Conor Jackson and Dan Haren, a number of other names appear to be on the block, including Chris Snyder, Chad Qualls, Adam LaRoche and Edwin Jackson. Reports indicate the only untouchable players on Arizona’s roster are Justin Upton and possibly Ian Kennedy. • Boston Red Sox: The team is interested in Oakland reliever Michael Wuertz, who is a 31-year-old righty. Wuertz is signed for $2.8 million for 2011 and had a $3.25 million club option for 2012. Despite having an below average season as he recovers from a shoulder injury, Wuertz is also on the radar of the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. However, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Athletics will not look to move Wuertz unless a knockoff offer is brought to the table. Meanwhile, Boston has also shown interest in relievers Scott Downs, Craig Breslow and Leo Nunez. • Colorado Rockies: With the team falling out of contention in the National League’s West Division, the Rockies may fall into the selling group before the deadline. Numerous players could become available including Melvin Mora, Ryan Silborghs, Brad Hawpe, Jorge de la Rosa, Aaron Cook, Rafael Betancourt and Joe Beimel. • Kansas City Royals: According to reports, the team has been bombarded by calls in regards to Scott Podsednik. Teams include the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. Podsednik is having a solid season that includes a .309 batting average and 29 stolen bases in 41 attempts. • Minnesota Twins: The team has an interest in Washington Nationals closer Matt Capps. If a deal were to materialize, the Nationals would likely want catching prospect Wilson Ramos in return. Washington GM Mike Rizzo said he has received a lot of calls about Capps recently, along with Josh Willingham and Adam Dunn, but is not excited about moving forward with a deal at this point.
