Donald Basham

Born Sept. 26, 1927, in Junction City, he was the son of Kirk J. and Florence C. (Wollenburg) Basham. He was a Ravenna resident for 53 years before moving to Ashland County eight years ago.

Mr. Basham was a custodian for the Colonial Rubber Company of Ravenna for 32 years.

He was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, and the Ashland County Senior Citizens where he was a former board member, a member of the Golden Serenaders, and Don and Company.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Becker Jones, whom he married April 11, 1970; daughters, Cindy Filler of Ravenna, Mrs. Gary (Debbie) Hurt of Whitehall, Mrs. Eric (Linda) Jaycox of Nederland, Texas, and Suzanne Jones of Mount Vernon; sons, Donald (Shirley) Jr. of Kent, and David (Kandy) of Ravenna; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Hank (Donna) Wilkes of Winter Haven, Fla., and Mrs. Roscoe (Dorothy) Thomas of Newton Falls.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, 313 Center St., Ashland. Private graveside services for the family will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. John A. Ballinger officiating where the burial will take place.
