Grace Whalen

Born in Lincoln, Neb., she had lived in Stow for more than 60 years. She was a 1928 graduate of the University of Nebraska, where she was a Chi Omega.

Mrs. Whalen was an avid homemaker and volunteer. She had volunteered at Goodwill Industries and St. Thomas Hospital in Akron.

She was a charter member and past president of PEO (BK Chapter) and past president of Stow Women's Club. She was the original Welcome Wagon representative in Stow and a member of the Stow Historical Society.

Survivors include her son, Denny (Linda) of Stow; daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Janet) Weil of Asheville, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Janice of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, Jack C., and son, William E., died previously.

Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, where the Rev. Leonard Budd and Pastor Joe Coffey will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb.
