Born June 3, 1920, in Smithville, Tenn., he was the son of Stith and
Letha (Lockhart) McHood.
Mr. McHood was ironworker, and retired in 1983 after 30 years of service
for Ironworkers Local 17. He also had 15 years of service with Goodyear
Tire and Rubber Co.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the invasion and Battle
of Normandy in France. He was an avid gardener, and a member of the Civilian
Conservation Corps.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy K.; daughters, Linda
(Ron) Caldwell of Mogadore, Kathy (Bob) Banar of Uniontown, and Connie McGowan
and Karen McHood, both of Akron; brothers, James of Cleveland, Harold (Sybil)
of Akron, Jack (Pat) of Uniontown; sisters, Marteen (Ed) Tigyer and Avis
Seesdorf, both of Akron, Jean (Joseph) Lupica of Cleveland; and four grandchildren.
Brothers Joseph, William, Frank, Letha, and Stith McHood all died previously.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hennessy-Bagnoli
Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge. Services will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. John Phillips officiating. Burial
will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
