Born Jan. 10, 1920 in Newton Falls, he was the son of Arthur F. and Bessie B. (Grinnell) Bender. He had lived in Newton Falls most of his life.
Mr. Bender was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown, Newton Falls Masonic Lodge No. 462, Newton Falls Order of the Eastern Star, the Warren-Cleveland Al Koran Shrine, Trumbull County Scottish Rite Society and Valley of Youngstown Council chapter commander. He had been a member of Newton Falls United Methodist Church since 1932.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a pilot during World War II.
Survivors include his son, Terry L. of Kissimmee, Fla.; daughters, Mrs. Frank (Sherry) Kovell of Green, Mrs. Bryan (Cynthia) Reese, and Mrs. Craig (Joyce Ann) Fasbender of Luck, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeannette Leahman. His wife, Betty Jean Yeazell, whom he married March 18, 1940, died Jan. 27, 1996.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newton Falls United Methodist Church, where a Masonic service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were made by James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
Memorials may be made to the Newton Falls United Methodist Church or to the Hospice of Trumbull County.
