Phyllis Donegan

Born Sept. 20, 1925 in Warren, she was the daughter of William and Bernice (Younker) Salen. She had lived in Elkhart, Ind. since 1965.

Mrs. Donegan was the co-owner of Countywide Wheelhorse in Elkhart for many years and served as the assistant secretary at the Dunlap United Methodist Church in Elkhart.

She was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church and was very active in the Elkhart YM-YWCA's "Rockerette" tap dance troupe, dancing for events throughout Indiana and Michigan.

Survivors include her husband, Carl F., whom she married Feb. 14, 1965; sons, Donald W. Hayes of Swanton, Ohio, Kenneth C. Hayes of Macomb, Mich., Grant W. Hayes of Largo, Fla., Frank J. Hayes of Goshen, Ind., James C. Donegan of Philadelphia, Pa. and Ralph R. Hayes and Robert Donegan, both of Elkhart, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and sisters Margaret Pierce of Bristolville, Ohio and Midge Feist of Vienna, Ohio. Her first husband, Donald C. Hayes, died in 1960. Her brother, William C. Salen, also died previously.

Calling hours will be held two hours prior to the 1 p.m. Saturday service at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Burial will be in Braceville Cemetery. Calling hours are also being held from 6 to 8 tonight at the Yoder Culp Funeral home in Goshen, Ind.

Memorials may be made to the YM-YWCA "Rockerette" dance troupe.
