According to Tallmadge police, his vehicle traveled over an embankment along I-76 and drifted off the road near Gilchrist Road. He did not appear to have sustained injuries from the crash and was found lying unconscious across the front seat of his vehicle. His death was ruled a "sudden death" by the Summit County Coroner's Office..
Born in Washington D.C., he was a 1962 graduate of Stow High School. He he had lived in Kent for 20 years.
Mr. Ryan worked in skilled trades with Continental General Tire for 33 years. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Sally, to whom he had been married 33 years; sons, David and Douglas (Diana), both of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; mother, Grace Marie White; and sisters, Susan (Dan) Snowberger of Stow, Donna White of Kent.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. in Cuyahoga Falls, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Elder Kenneth Moorer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls.
