Paul May

Mr. May was born Jan. 6, 1917 in Colebrook, a son of Walter C. and Mary Alice (Rice) May, and moved to the area in 1939.

He had been employed bty the former Republic Steel Corporation for 30 years in the 56 inch Hot Strip Mill, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 295, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, seerving in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Portage County native Lucille (Lansinger Hillier) May, whom he married in 1954; son Paul L. Hillier Jr. of Beloit; two grandchildren; three great grandchilldren; sister M. Lenore May of Cortland; and several relatives from Portage County.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Reese-Winn-Winyard-McDermott Funeral Home in Niles, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
