Orray Shay II

A life resident of the area, Mr. Shay was a retired teacher with more than 30 years of service in Akron area schools.

He was a newly-elected vice president of the Deerfield Ruritans.

Survivors include his wife, Bev; sons, Matt Shay, Chris Shay, Jim (Jamie) Kubitza, Matt Kubitza, Joshua Herndon and Micah Herndon; daughters, Tracy Shay, Marcy (Scott) Shay-Locicero, and Kelli Kubitza; sisters, Bettie (Joe) Amoroso and Charlene (John) Vohs; step-sister Patty Sands; step-brother Donald (Miriam) Browning; and three grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow. Services will be held at noon Friday at the Church in Silver Lake with Rev. Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Memorial Park.
