Howard T. Boyle, 84, of Bowman Drive, Kent, died Tuesday at Akron General Medical Center. Born Sept. 12, 1913 in Kent, he was the son of Harold and Hanna Mae (Graham) Boyle. He was a Kent Roosevelt High School graduate. Mr. Boyle retired in 1976 as night superintendent at Lamson-Sessions after 39 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 716th Tank Battalion in the Philippines. He was a member of the Kent VFW and the Lamson Rod and Gun Club. He served two tours in the Civilian Conservation Corps, one in Yellowstone National Park and the other in California building fireblocks. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Theresa (Milano); son, Howard T. (Linda) Boyle II of Kent; daughter, Theresa of Ravenna; three grandchildren; brother, Charles of Gaston, S.C.; and sisters, Ruby Hunt of Orlando, Fla., Clara Goff of Creston and Betty Gallager of Akron. His brothers, Harold, William, Ralph, and James and sister, Dorothy Thomas, died previously. Private services have been held. The Rev. Joseph Ruggieri officiated. Burial was in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Arrangements were made by Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund or the Kent City Schools Foundation.
