Fred M. Jones, 80, of Kent, died Friday at his home after a six month illness. He was born July 22, 1917 in Picher, Okla., the son of John F. and Kathryn (Cowley) Jones. He had lived in Kent since 1964. He was employed with the B.F. Goodrich Company for 34 years. Mr. Jones was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer and pursued those interests actively until he became ill. He was a member of the Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club and a pheasants club. He and his wife enjoyed listening to music and spent much time with their friends in the blues community. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lucille (Allen); sons Terry (Joyce) of Seammon, Kan., Steve (Pamela) of Hudson and David (Mary) of Rootstown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Stuart of Wyandotte, Ok. and sister, Georgea Rae Weast of Osage City, Kan. His brother, Gordon, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, the Rev. Bruce Chouinard officiating.
