Clara A. White, 83, of Ravenna, died Friday at her home after a long illness. Born May 1, 1914, in Wilkes County, Ga., she was the daughter of Willis and Annie (Tate) Fortson. She had lived in Ravenna since 1953. Mrs. White worked as a cook at Pop's Truck Stop in Streetsboro. She was a member of Winfield Church of God in Christ in Ravenna, where she was a church mother and a member of the Winfield Women's Group. Survivors include her sons Carnel (Charna) White, of Akron and Dallas White of Akron; daughters, Mrs. Roosevelt (Christine) Seeden, Mrs. Otis (Pauline) Lott, both of Ravenna, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Shavers of Akron and Sarah Joyce White, of Akron; 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Her husband, Issac; daughter, Bula Mae Gaston; brother, Lewis Fortson; and sister, Willie Mae Burton, died previously. Visitation will be held from noon until services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Winfield Church of God In Christ in Ravenna. The Rev. Willie Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. Arrangements were made by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Memorials may be made to Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation Visiting Nurse Association in Ravenna. Condolences may be sent to the family at 537 Ohio Ave., Ravenna.
