BRIMFIELD Ned W. Stahl, 85, who operated a 160-acre grain farm and was active in Portage County agricultural programs, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home. Born Feb. 2, 1912 in Suffield, he was the son of Ford and Ada (Minier) Stahl. He was a resident of Brimfield for more than 60 years. Mr. Stahl was a farmer. He had served on the board of the Landmark Farm Association and the Portage County Farm Bureau and also chaired the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service County Committee. He was a member of the First Church of God in Ravenna, where he had served as board secretary for nearly 45 years and taught Sunday school. He also served on the Portage County Health Board and was a Brimfield Township trustee. Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Garmier), to whom he was married for 66 years; son, Larry E. (Martha) of Kent; daughter-in-law, Betty of Brimfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Milton of Suffield. A son, Edward, died in 1996. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, and from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of God in Ravenna, with the Rev. Carl Holm officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
