Marie "Betty" Rider

HIRAM _ Marie E. "Betty" Rider, 84, of Hiram, died Wednesday at Altercare of Ravenna.

Born Nov. 15, 1913, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Kozlowski) Svoboda. A Hiram resident for the past four years, she formerly lived in Florida and Michigan.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth of LaCombe, La.; daughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Pereces of Hiram; brother, John Svoboda of Streetsboro; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas A., died in 1966. Her brother, George Svoboda, and sister, Pat Sacha, also died previously.

A private burial has been held. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
