Virginia Gooding, 85

Virginia Gooding, 85, of Bristolville, died Monday in Cortland Quality Care Nursing Centers in Cortland after a short illness. Born May 15, 1912 in Apollo, Pa., she was the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Cooks) Kennedy. She moved to Bristolville in 1977 from West Farmington. Mrs. Gooding was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading Western books, flower gardening, watching Western movies on TV and crocheting. Survivors include her sons, Donald W. and Duane J., both of Bristolville; a daughter, Diane Harper of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Her husband, William I., whom she married July 26, 1938, three brothers and two sisters died previously. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Paul Cook officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in West Farmington.
