Ethel Kilby

Former Parkman resident Ethel Kilby, 84, of Takoma Park, Md., died Wednesday at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma.

Born Jan. 30, 1913 in Dekalb, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Dagmar (Lehtonen) Urpi.

Mrs. Kilby was a homemaker. She also had worked at General Electric at Nela Park in Cleveland and was a waitress at Post House Restaurant.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former "Miss Parkman."

Survivors include her daughters, Carol of Takoma, Md., Alice Khalif of Olney, Md. and Deborah of Parkman; two grandchildren; and sister, Lila Pettengell of Charlotte, N.C. Her husband, Henry C., whom she married in 1945, died Jan. 11, 1967. Her brothers, Donald, Uno and Wilho and sisters, Allie Pavlick and Helvi Harwath, also died previously.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery in Parkman.
