SHALERSVILLE - Ruth G. Seither, 75, died Wednesday at Akron General Medical Center after a long illness.
Born July 14, 1922 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Sreal and Helen (Arnold) Thomas. She had lived in Shalersville for three years. She formerly lived in Ravenna and Bedford.
Mrs. Seither retired from National Pottiers in Bedford, where she was a floral arranger.
She had served as president of AFL-CIO Local No. 411 in Bedford Heights for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her sons, Donald of Garrettsville, and Louis "Butch" of New Orleans, La.; daughter, Susan Marks of Shalersville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Thomas of Ravenna; and sisters, Shirley Griffith of Mantua and Linda Sykes of Louisiana. Her husband, Donald, died in 1984. Two grandchildren and her sisters, Jean Black and Marilyn Wagner, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, where services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Allen Rittman officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
