Phyllis A. Lyle, 70, of Ravenna, died Thursday at Akron City Hospital.
Born June 20, 1927 in Youngstown, she was the daughter of George and Lila Robbins.
Mrs. Lyle worked as an elementary school special education teacher at Rootstown Elementary School. Prior to that, she taught at Athens Middle School and at Aurora Elementary School.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ravenna and the National Organization of Women. She volunteered at the Center of Hope in Ravenna, at Planned Parenthood and the Ravenna Preschool. She was an avid gardener and belonged to several garden clubs.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. William Lyle, to whom she had been married since 1949; son, Randall of Kent; daughters, Roxana Lyle of Ravenna, Nena Lalich of Cincinnati and Aimee Lyle of Kent; and 10 grandchildren. A brother and sister died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Grace Episcopal Church, Ravenna with the Rev. Gaye Jennings officiating. Private burial will take place.
