HIRAM - Hester Richardson, 79, of Hiram, died Friday at Akron City Hospital.Born Aug. 31, 1918, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of Fred and Rebecca (Sigmon) Burdette. A Hiram-area resident for the past five years, she had lived in Cleveland from 1960 through 1993.
She had retired from Morgan Linen Company in Cleveland, where she worked 15 years as a press operator.
She was a member of The House of Prayer Church in Garrettsville. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Roy A., to whom she had been married for 62 years; sons, Hanford (Mazie), Okey (Angie) and David (Juanita), all of West Virginia, Larry (Carol) of Pennsylvania and Buddy (Barbara) of Barberton, Ohio; daughters, Mrs. Bill (Doris) Burdette of Cleveland and Mrs. Jesse (Dora) Ward of Hiram; sisters, Mabel Fisher and Esta Shaffer, both of West Virginia; 23 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters died previously.
Calling hours will beheld from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua. Funeral services will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the House of Prayer Church, 9874 Silica Sand Road in Garrettsville with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hiram.
