MANTUA _ Edward M. Linert, 81, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at his home after a period of failing health.
Born October 17, 1918 in Cleveland, he had lived in Mantua for 36 years.
Mr. Linert was employed by Roundup Lake Park Inc. and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camping Resort in Mantua for 36 years, where he served first as manager. For the past 10 years, he appeared every night dressed as Ranger Ed for the children visiting the park. He formerly owned and operated a plumbing and heating service in Bedford.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses more than 50 years ago and was an active member of the Streetsboro congregation.
Survivors include his wife Marian L. (Becksted), to whom he was married 60 years; son, Jan (Marsha) of Aurora; daughters, Rebecca (William) Newell of Mantua and Barbara (Dale) Shalashnow of Bedford; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Streetsboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1694 S.R. 303 in Streetsboro. Arrangements were made by Green's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Mantua.
