EDINBURG Earl W. Forney, 89, died Sunday, April 20, 2003. Born Aug. 17, 1913, in York, Pa., to William Earl and Catherine (Eisenhuth) Forney, he spent his youth in Alliance and moved to Ravenna in 1938. Mr. Forney owned and operated Forneys Finest Meats in Ravenna for 27 years. After retiring from the meat market, he worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 14 years before retiring in 1976. Survivors include his wife, Betty; sons, Bill (Karen) and Bruce (Jackie); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Grace Tetlow, Edna Regoli, Dorothy Young and Ruth Hoppes. His first wife, Goldie (Weibel); brothers, Roy and Clyde; and sister, Mabel, died previously. Visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. services Wednesday at Wood-Kortright Funeral home, Ravenna Chapel, with the Rev. Walter Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
