Harry W. Smith, 60; Ohio Turnpike employee

Harry W. Smith, 60, of Ravenna Township, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Born Oct. 18, 1942, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of Harry R. and Sara M. (Ravenscraft) Smith. He lived in Ravenna for 40 years. Mr. Smith worked in road maintenance for the Ohio Turnpike Commission. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Ravenna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1055 and the Ravenna America Legion Post No. 331. Survivors include his daughters, Michelle of Ravenna and Dawn Kovar of Mantua; three grandchildren; mother, Sara M. of Ravenna; brothers, Jim and Edward, both of Ravenna; and sisters, Sara Norris of Garrettsville and Barb Hostetler of Garrett, Pa. His sister, Carla Lee, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Private graveside services will be held Thursday at Union Cemetery in Meyersdale, Pa., with the Rev. Carl Holm officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
