Philip Souers, 88; Former Rootstown resident

Philip Souers, 88, of Ellenton, Fla., formerly of Rootstown and the Akron area, died Monday, May 26, 2003, following a brief illness. Born Nov. 7, 1914, in Brimfield, he was the son of Philip and Eva (Lewis) Souers. Mr. Souers retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1976 after 36 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Dorthyof Ellenton, Fla.; sons, Phil of Chuluota, Fla., and Alan (Sandra) of Arlington, Va.; daughter, Judy (Tom) Campbell of Suffield; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Hazel Briner of Akron. Cremation has taken place There will be no calling hours or services.
