AURORA George W. Harrison, Jr., 82 years of age, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012,Veterans Day, at his residence in Aurora, Ohio. Mr. Harrison was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 28, 1930, the son of the late George W. and Barbara (Clark) Harrison, Sr. A resident of Aurora since 1969, he had been the owner-operator of Champion Landscaping in Aurora. He was a retired firefighter. Mr. Harrison found great pleasure in following the wrestling activities of his three sons while they were in school, and also enjoyed golfing and researching history of the Korean Conflict. Family and grandchildren remained a priority throughout his life. Mr. Harrison proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict as a U.S. Marine, having survived the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. This battle later resulted in the formation of The Chosin Few which he held membership in to the time of his passing. He also was promoted to Drill Instructor at Paris Island and obtained the rank of Sergeant while in the Marine Corps. Mr. Harrison was a life member of the Aurora V.F.W. and was a member of Willoughby Masonic Lodge No. 302 F.&A.M. On September 10, 1955, he married Audrey (Horsfall) Harrison who survives at their residence. Mr. Harrison is also survived by his three sons, George (Paula) Harrison, III of Canton, Thomas (Kathleen) Harrison of Mantua and William (Tawnya) Harrison of Hiram; his sister, Judy (Jim) Willick of Florida and five grandchildren: Angela, George IV, Steffanie, Amber and William. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM & 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, State Route 44 at the corner of Pioneer Trail (S. of Rt.422) Mantua, where his funeral service will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM. with Pastor Rob Henderson officiating. Mr. Harrison will then be laid to rest at Aurora City Cemetery where he will receive full military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard, assisted by Mantua American Legion Post No. 193.
