Joseph A. "Joe" Nanassy, 70, of Kent, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center. He was born August 17, 1942 in Cleveland, OH, to Joseph and Margaret (Zitner) Nanassy.
Joseph was a 1960 graduate of Crestwood High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and served from 1962 until 1970.
Joe enjoyed classic car shows, building model cars, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. His attention to detail and time carried through to his final moments. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and wit also.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Fabiny) Nanassy; son, Jeffrey Nanassy of Kent; daughters, Debra (Rodney Johnson) Nanassy of Tallmadge, and Erin (Robert) Melzer of Ravenna; grandsons, Robert Melzer V. and Drake Johnson, and granddaughters, Kendyl Johnson and Vaida Melzer; brother, James Nanassy of Ravenna; sisters, Mary Ann Germanson of Madison, WI, and Christine (Richard) Bailey of Garrettsville; and many loving and supportive nieces and nephews across the country.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Nanassy.
