Josephine Hood, 83 years of age, passed away Thursday January 17, 2013 in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Grace (Puelo) Battaglia.
A Freedom area resident since 1963, she had been employed at Leet Wire Assemblies in Freedom for 18 years as a supervisor until her retirement. Mrs. Hood was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua. Gardening, cooking with all of her heart, listening to the radio and following professional wrestling were activities she enjoyed.
On September 19, 1955, she married Homer B. Hood, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 13, 1997. Also preceding were her siblings Nick, Carl, Angelo, and Paul Battaglia and Mary Pizzute. Mrs. Hood is survived by her children Anthony (Theresa) Hood of Mantua, Homer Hood, Jr. of Ravenna, Bob (Barbara) Hood of Chardon and Edie (Sabella) Hood of Germany, sisters Grace Harmon of Freedom and Betty Lomier of Ravenna, as well as 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will be said Tuesday at 10:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday January 22, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating.
