Sandra was born August 9, 1951 in Lexington, Mississippi to William & Deseree (Mitchell) Liddell..
Sandra graduated from Ravenna High School In 1969. While in high school, she was enrolled in the college preparatory program. She was a member of the Spanish Club and received the Spanish award in her senior year. She attended Kent State University from 1969-1973. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Spanish in 1973. Sandra entered the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration in 1974, where she earned her Masters Of Arts Degree.
Sandra is a member of the academy of Certified Social Workers and is a Certified Senior Addictions Counselor. She was an instructor at St. Augustine College In Chicago, teaching a substance abuse course. Sandra was inducted into the "Ravenna Ravens' Hall of Fame for her Academic/Career Accomplishments in 1994. She was currently employed with the Salvation Army in Chicago as a Social Worker.
Sandra was a member of Nebo Freewill Baptist Church, Ravenna, where she was the pianist, Sunday school teacher and secretary before moving to Chicago.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 30 years, Kwabena Oppong, Chicago, Illinois; mother, Deseree Liddell; brothers, Harold (Doreen) Liddell, Akron, Ronnie (Sharon) Liddell, Kent; sister, Sharon (Michael) Sanders, Ravenna, Deseree (Llewellyn) Perry, Ravenna, Abbie Liddell, Atlanta, sisters-n-law, Laura Liddell, Atlanta, Rose Atjei, Kumasie Ghana, Beatrice Serwaah, Kumasie, Ghan;, nephew, Nana Appiah, Chicago; cousins, Nana Poku Ansah, Nana Barfour and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Liddell and brother, Barry Liddell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013, 11am at Rhoden Memorial Home, 1101 Palmetto Ave. Akron with Rev. Andrew Wright officiating. Friends may call at the chapel on Saturday from 10am until time of service. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to Deseree Liddell, 171 Bryn Mawr, Apt. 107, Ravenna, OH 44266
