Walter W. Garmier, age 90, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 4, 2013. He was born in Hartville on May 24, 1922 to Loren and Cordie (Shafer) Garmier.
Walter resided just outside of Hartville where he worked the family farm. He also drove a school bus and was a boiler operator for the Suffield School System. Walter attended, and was a founding member of the Hartville Church of God and was also active in Portage Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emma June Garmier; son and daughter-in-law William "Bill" and Jacqueline "Jackie" Garmier of Hartville; daughter and son-in-law Marva Kay and John Hensley of Texas; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; sister Nancy Young of Akron, Ohio and brother Lester (Audrey) Garmier of Lake Worth, Florida; several foster children including Donald (Connie) Damron; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Judith Marie "Judy" Winland March 2011; and 2 sisters Mildred Pontius and Lucille Stahl.
Calling hours are Thursday February 14th 4-5 PM at Hartville Church of God and a funeral service will start promptly at 5PM. After funeral services the family invites you to join them in the church's fellowship hall. On Friday, the family will have a private committal service at Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Broken Chains Ministry, or Hartville Church of God to be used for missions.
