Leroy E. Savitts

Leroy E. Savitts, 63 years of age, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his residence following a long illness. Born in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Stanley and Margaret (O'Donnell) Savitts, Sr.

A Hiram area resident the past 58 years, Leroy had been employed at Viskas in Aurora for several years, and then at Tri-County in Twinsburg where he retired from in 2009. Leroy proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, being a veteran of the Viet Nam Era. He was a member of the Windham American Legion. Leroy enjoyed farming, and spending special times with his family and many friends.

On July 18, 1970, he married his loving wife, Judy (South) Savitts who survives at their home. Also surviving is his devoted daughter, Jody Perrine of Garrettsville, his cherished grandchildren, Justin, Emily and Megan Perrine all of Garrettsville, brothers, Stanley S. Savitts, Jr. of Garrettsville and Stanley M. Savitts of Pennsylvania, sisters, Molly (Wayne) Stebner of Garrettsville, Esther (Glenn) Martin of Hiram, Susan Sindledecker of Newton Falls, Beverly Savitts of Chagrin Falls, and Sandra Himes, Charolette Wagner and Shirley Goss all of Pennsylvania, and 20 nieces and nephews and 31 great nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin, John and Walter, sisters, Sara, Margaret and Arlene, sisters-in-law, Debra and Linda and 2 nieces.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Leroy will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram, receiving military honors by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of the Windham American Legion.
