William C. Dickey, 81 years of age, passed away Friday March 22, 2013 at his residence. Born in Newton Falls, Ohio on June 14, 1931, Bill was the son of the late Charles and Florence (Pelesh) Dickey.
A resident of the Aurora-Mantua areas for over 50 years, Bill was a very active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua, where he faithfully assisted with the church Ox Roast for 54 years. He was a member of the Mantua Knights of Columbus Council # 3766. Bill had been employed as a Production Control Manager at Cyril Bath in Solon, following which he was employed at Schwebel's Bakery on the assembly line, retiring in 1997.
A Cleveland Sports fan, Bill will always be remembered by his grandchildren for his support at all of their sporting events, as well as a man whose smile was as big as his heart.
On September 28, 1957, he married Angela Dickey who preceded him in death in 1996. Also preceding him were his siblings John and Pete Dickey, Mildred Kozup, Mary Dudick, Ann Chopko and Sara Dickey. Bill is survived by his daughters Mary Ann (Roger) Zevorich of Parma Hts., Alice Kay (Kenneth) Pawlak of Solon, sisters Katherine Apger of Newton Falls, Pauline Dickey of Columbus, Ohio and Margaret Petty of Warren, Ohio.
He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren Jennifer, Christopher, Leo and Angela and 2 great-grandchildren Jillian and William.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, St. Rt. 44 at the corner of 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua where prayers will be said Wednesday at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday March 27, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township.
