Leland Ray Ebie, age 80 of Randolph, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Altercare Post Acute Rehabilitation Center in Brimfield.
He was born April 24, 1933, in Suffield, Ohio, a son of the late Harold Simon and Vera (Domer) Ebie. Ray was a farmer and owner of Ebie Excavating. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and served as assistant superintendent of antique tractors at the Portage County Fair. Ray loved to run his heavy equipment as well as talk and tell jokes. Many of those conversations were held daily with his friends at Bob's Pizza. Ray also enjoyed road trips, often to Holmes County, and celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Hawaii.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Flora "Sally" (Foster) Ebie and their children: Bonnie Ebie of Randolph, Ronald (Debbie) Ebie of Rootstown, Linda (Ralph) Nothstein of Brimfield, Rita Adkins of Akron, and Rex (Diane) Ebie of Edinburg. He was the proud grandfather of Tasha Adkins, Jessie (Ted Pavlic) Ebie, Adam Ebie, Randy (Misty Boganwright) Adkins, Sam Ebie, Emily Ebie, Matthew Ebie, and Brian Ebie, along with his 9 great-grandchildren. Ray's memory will also be cherished by his brothers Robert (Midge) Ebie and Carl (Sharon) Ebie and sisters Joyce (Tom) Persinger and Grace Woerz all of Brimfield.
Friends will be received Sunday, August 25, 2013, from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
