Junior Lee Phillips, 80, of Ravenna, went home to be with his Lord after a short illness.
Junior was born in Montrose, West Virginia on October 22, 1932 to parents Harold L. and Ruby (Bennett) Phillips. He married his wife Loretta M. (Jones) Phillips on October 26, 1957. Mr. Phillips worked as a glazier and was retired from Local #1162 Glaziers Union of Akron. He also worked at the BF Goodrich store in Ravenna and the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Junior was also a Brady Lake Village policeman for five years. He was a member of Portage Community Chapel in Ravenna and loved travelling in his motor home and restoring his Speedex garden tractors.
Junior is survived by his wife Loretta and his brothers: Edward (Rita) Phillips of Culman, Al. and Paul (Pat) Phillips of Rootstown, Oh, and sisters-in-law Eleanor Jones and Donna Huffman. Left to cherish his memory are his loving nieces and nephews: Paul (Kristen) Phillips, Jr., Paula (Jessie) Baughman, Karen (Roberto Trilli) Stalnaker, Bryan Phillips, Margaret Ann Phillips, Gordon (Debbie) Phillips, Troy (Paula) Phillips, Todd (Jenny) Jones, Debbie Jones, Edie (Jeff) Lackey, Belinda (Tom) Skufca, Lori Francis, Billy (Kelly) Jones and many great-nieces and nephews. Surviving also are very special young friends Julian & Luciana Rios, Olivia Davis, Morgan & Dominic Heeter and Angelina Welling.
Family will receive friends at the Portage Community Chapel, 6490 St. Rt. 14, Ravenna, on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and again on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. funeral service officiated by Pastor Mark Miller and Pastor Barry Shahan. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
