Former Wenatchee resident, Jack Saltsman, 55, passed away early Saturday, August 24, 2013, in Kirkland, WA. Jack was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve in early April, and advised to have corrective surgery within a year.
Shortly thereafter, Jack contracted an infection in his heart and had a successful valve replacement in early July. Despite initial, remarkable progress toward recovery, Jack did not survive complications from the infection.
Jack was born October 15, 1957 in Warren, Ohio. Originally from Freedom, he graduated from James A. Garfield High School in 1976 and moved to the Pacific Northwest a few years later. Jack loved exploring the Wenatchee Valley trails, especially long walks in the evening around the Columbia River. Jack loved sports, traveling, exploring, and learning new things. He spent time in Alaska working in the fishing industry and forestry services. There, he enjoyed the wonder and excitement of nature. Jack was a person of wit and humor, and always put a smile on the faces of others with his jokes.
Jack is survived by his Mother, Norma Saltsman of Oregon, sisters: Theresa (Don) Reed of Ravenna, Robin Passenger of Oregon, and Linda (Guy) Wade of Arizona, and a brother, Mike Saltsman of Akron. Jack was preceded in death by his Father, Robert D. Saltsman (7-31-1987) whom he has joined in Heaven.
Cremation has taken place. Jack will be missed, but never forgotten. Condolences and memories may be shared at email@example.com.
