Tris G. Taylor, 54 years of age, passed away Thursday September 26, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Ravenna, Ohio on April 10, 1959, he was the son of Hubert John and Genola (Gick) Taylor.
A lifetime Mantua resident, he was a 1977 graduate of Crestwood Schools. Tris was a member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church and the Crestwood Lions Club. A truck driver, he had been employed at Stamm Contracting, Benjamin Trucking, Carlton TL Express and at Vistar Corporation in Twinsburg for 20 years. Tris was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, and also truly enjoyed NASCAR and Drag Racing, as well as a Classic Car enthusiast.
On March 24, 1979, he married Jean (Schultz) Taylor who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children Tait Taylor of Mantua and Tricia (Sean) Speck of Streetsboro, his father John Taylor of Mantua, and brothers Thomas (Laura) Taylor of Shalersville and Ted (Sandy) Taylor of Mantua. He was preceded in death by his mother Genola Taylor on April 10, 2012 and his brothers Tim in 1972 and Todd in 1955.
No calling hours. Cremation has been held following which he will be laid to rest at a private family burial at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 5, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at Portage Faith United Methodist Church, 9922 State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 with Rev. Carolyn Berry officiating. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
