Hilda Gwenodolyn Rohlf, 96, passed away October 7, 2013.
She was born December 26, 1916 in Akron, Ohio. Hilda graduated from Akron Central H.S. in 1935, Kent State University in 1941 with a BS in Education and a M. Ed. in 1944. She taught Home Economics in Rootstown and finished her 35th year at Tallmadge H.S. She traveled extensively during those teaching years and after her retirement. Hilda was a well liked teacher and until recently attended many high school reunion celebrations for her former students. Hilda was an avid sewer, poet, gardener and letter writer. She loved keeping in touch with missionary friends and others she met along the way in her traveling. She was a member of Tallmadge AARP, AAUW, Brimfield Garden Club, Brimfield Historical Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, National Education Assoc., OEA-state officer-Ohio Education Assoc. and the Poetry group of Kent. She attended Tallmadge Missionary Alliance Church and was an active member as a librarian, also a member of the Alliance Women and a Clothes Closet volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Gertrude Rohlf.
Hilda is survived by her dear friends and neighbors, Harry and Diane Bowman and was an honorary aunt to their two children and three grandchildren. Also at her side were friends; Lois Hallis, Joyce and Robin Senz and Eleanor and Larry Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at Tallmadge Missionary Alliance Church, 1155 East Ave., Tallmadge, with Pastor John Wilson officiating.
Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
