Ann Marie Sawastuk, 89 years of age, passed away Wednesday October 23, 2013. Born in Adena, Ohio on September 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James and Natalina (Lana) Sbroglia. A resident of the Mantua area since 1960, she was a former longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua. She had been employed as a nurse's aide at Hamlet Manor in Chagrin Falls for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Ann enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, working in her flower beds, and had been very active in her younger years playing hardball. She was preceded in death in 2002 by her husband Wasil Sawastuk, Jr., her son William, and 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Survivors include her son James of Middlefield, daughters Lorrie Atkinson of Mantua and Karen Mould of Birmingham, Alabama, sisters Terry Petrulis and Helen Sobole both of Parma, Mary Host of Minnesota, 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her family would like to thank all of the nurses and aides that took special care of Ann the past 2 ½ years of her life. No calling hours or services will be held. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
