David John Strawman

David John Strawman, 65, of Quincy, IL died Sunday (October 13, 2013) in Hanoi Vietnam.

Dave was born September 20, 1948, in Ravenna, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mildred Strawman, and his grandson Daniel Strawman. On March 17, 1967 he married Karen Rising in Windham, Ohio. A graduate of the Garrettsville School and UTI, Akron. Dave started his professional career at WVIZ, Cleveland, Ohio, as a broadcast engineer. In 1977 he joined Harris Corporation and held several positions. He became a member of the State Department in 1989, serving as a Foreign Service Officer for IBB, formerly Voice of America. He served in Greece, Morocco, Thailand, the Philippines, and Sipan. In 2008 he was awarded Senior Foreign Officer by President Bush.

David John Strawman

Biking and travel were his passions and he spent many hours doing both. Experiencing different culture and exotic food was always a delight to him.

He is survived by his wife Karen Strawman; his son Jonathan Strawman of Quincy, daughter Laurel Pepin of Quincy, and 3 grandchildren, Cody Strawman, Sophia Pepin, and Layla Pepin, all of Quincy; two sisters Barbara Grafton of Freedom, Ohio, and Patty Mihailov of Guys Mills, PA.

Services: A memorial service will be held in the Church of the Nazarene, Ravenna, Ohio, 1:00, November 16th. A light lunch will be served following the service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Church of the Nazarene's Bandage Rollers.

Larry Angel's little sister Kathy-Faye  extending my condolencce and praying that May God heal you in this time of Sorrow I am recovering from the flu and do not want to share my germs with anyone... Lorry has had back surgury the 1st week of November and is still in rehab he also wanted to extend his condolences and prayers as  Cathy Ann will be working at Garrettsville Family Pharmacy tomorrow passing on her condolences also  prayers.
