Hanna Reynolds (Rahz), long time Garrettsville resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
She was born in Rockcreek, Ohio on December 22, 1918. She later moved to Cleveland and then to Garrettsville in 1930.
Hanna married Harold Reynolds on July 16, 139. They were married for 57 years before he died in 1996. Together they raised their children on the family farm on Freedom Street. Hanna was more than just a housewife and mother. She was the matriarch of the family. She was a partner with her husband in the day to day operation of their farm where they raised Shetland ponies. They created Garrettsville Downs which was harness racing for ponies. In later years she was by his side as he built new homes and developed South Park and then moved on to building apartments now known as South Wood Apartments in Garrettsville. Together Harold and Hanna created a legacy through their hard work and determination of an all family operated business that their children and grandchildren have continued to run for over 50 years. Hanna loved to cook and bake and was well known for her Christmas tarts. She was an avid reader.
Hanna is survived by her seven children, Sharon Spearing of Costa Mesa, CA, Bert (Alma) Reynolds of Garrettsville, Carol (Carl) Michael of Garrettsville, Dennis Reynolds of Brecksville, Melanie (Dino) Manno of Garrettsville, Nonie (Dr. Darryl) King of Clarksburg, WV and Linnette (Rick) Patrick of Garrettsville.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, one special granddaughter, Lauren Patrick, who cared for her the last several years, making it possible for Hanna to stay at her home, and 30 great grandchildren.
Hanna was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her brothers, Walter, Ernest, Harry and Rhinhart Rahz; sister, Martha Wood and grandsons, Robert Lougen and Steven Kerr.
