Milan Markov

Milan Markov, 81, of Rootstown, formerly of Paris Township, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013. He was born December 27, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to Budislav and Julia (Beno) Markov. He was a 1957 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, where he majored in biology and chemistry, and was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Markov worked in the nuclear medicine field as a lab manager for Mallinckrodt, and later ran his own business in the same field. Milan served for several years on the Paris Township Zoning Board and Ravenna Arsenal Restoration Advisory Board. He loved music, especially jazz, played trumpet, and sang in many choruses, including the Kent State Chorus, Ravenna Community Choir, Deerfield Community Chorus and the Wayland Community Church Choir. Milan was a member of Wayland Community Church, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Barbara (Emerson), sons Scott of Bath Township, James of Kent and Jeff (April) of Edinburg, grandchildren Rachel and Rebekah, and a sister Lydia Dall of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John, sisters Ruth, Blanche and Eleanor and a brother Alexander. Visitation will be Sunday 12/29/2013 from 1-4 p.m. at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, with service immediately following, Wallace G. Smith officiating. There will be a private burial at Hawley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bonnie's Home Health Care, 4826 New Milford Rd., Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
