William R. Williams
William R. Williams, 71, of Paris Township passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at his residence. He was born on May 10, 1942 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Harry Weber and Josephine Marcelle McCarthy Williams, the youngest of their thirteen children. Bill was a graduate of Southeast High School and served in the Ohio Army National Guard, receiving his honorable discharge on August 22, 1966.
He worked at the Ravenna Arsenal prior to obtaining employment at the Lordstown General Motors Plant. Bill retired from his duties as a coordinator at the plant in 2000.
On March 8, 1968, William R. Williams and Jan Carrie Blinebery were united in marriage. The family grew to include their children, Tim, Carey and Cristy. Bill was a loving and supportive father.
One of the most enjoyable days of the week was the tradition of family night.
Although being devoted to his family, Bill was an outgoing person who also enjoyed his time with friends. He was a life member of the Amvets 112, played softball on the Paris Inn team and played in the boccia league at the Old Dutch Mill Golf Course. Other pleasurable pastimes included golfing, camping and fishing. The sports teams that Bill was a supportive fan of were the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. When winter came, Bill was eager to visit with his friends when he and Jan wintered in Lake Okeechobee, Florida.
Wonderful memories of Bill will be carried on by his loving wife, Jan; his beloved daughters, Carey Lynne Sells and Cristy Marcelle Wheeler; his adored grandchildren, Ryan T. Sells, Danielle C. Sells, Josephine R. Wheeler, Amanda Gregory and Ashley Stephens; his five great grandchildren; his sisters, Margaret Meagher and Laura Dunlop; his brothers, David Williams, Walter Williams and John Williams; his nieces; his nephews and his many friends.
