Roger D. Boykin, 41, of Kent, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at University Hospital in Cleveland. He was born January 14, 1973 in Ravenna, to Roger Boykin and Jennifer Ann (Loftin) Boykin. Roger continued the Boykin tradition and excelled in football at Kent Roosevelt High School and then coached youth football in Kent. He was a handyman and could fix anything for anybody as a personal favor. Roger was an outstanding, loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching movies, cooking and sports. He had a passion for History and loved to teach homework with his children.
He is survived by his wife, Beverlee (Austin) Boykin; step-son, Telstar Tatum Jr. of Kent; daughters, Whitney Ailes, Jalynne Tatum, Rajah Boykin, Raushanah Boykin all of Kent; grandchildren, Keagan and Clayton Moody Jr. both of Kent; mother, Jennifer (John) Miller of Kent; brothers, Jay D. and Anthony Michael Boykin both of Kent. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Boykin, grandparents, Herbert and June Loftin; grandmother, Maime Boykin; and uncle, Albert Loftin
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 1st at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Debra Loftin officiating, where friends may Call from 12 PM until the time of service.
